About

Delro Rosco is known for abstract paintings that are inspired by observations in nature, prayers, memories, interactions with others and everyday life experiences. His work is meant to offer encouragement driven by the search for hope in the midst of human brokenness, imperfection, and the fragility of life. Creating intricate and deeply layered works reflect this as Rosco incorporates materials such as pulverized mineral pigments, sand, glass, hand-beaten paper mulberry fiber and metal leafs into the work. “I’m moved by what I see; I paint what I hope for,” says Rosco. His deep faith takes him from being inspired by creation to focusing on the Creator.

Statement

Through observation and memory, I capture ethereal impressions of my natural surroundings to create deeply layered works that hover between abstraction and hints of reality.  My process is slow and reflective applying one layer per day over the course of weeks and months.  Fleeting moments in time are embedded in each layer with materials such as pulverized minerals, ground shells and sand, silver and gold.

Creating this way offers me a space to grapple with truths from my faith journey while living in a broken world.  The works are journals of discoveries and experiences of searching for hope.
